FSU Health - A Game Changer
Responding to the need for more healthcare options in the Bay County area, The St. Joe Company along with Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare and Florida State University announced in 2023 plans for a comprehensive medical campus. Construction continues on the first medical office building, which is scheduled to open late summer 2024 and will be one piece of a larger medical campus that is planned to cover 87 acres in the area of State Highway 79 and Philip Griffitts, Sr. Parkway.
In an interview with the Panama City News Herald, Dan Velazquez, Senior Vice President for Commercial Real Estate, stated, "I think it's a game changer for the Beach. It's another layer of necessary services for those of us who get to live and work in this beautiful location. It's something that's ... long awaited and now coming to fruition."
The medical office building that is currently under construction will house primary care, urgent care, an ambulatory surgery center, cardiology and orthopedic services. The next building will be a 100-bed hospital with an anticipated opening by late 2027.
Ideally situated just a few minutes from the 55 and better community, Latitude Margaritaville, the medical campus will help meet the demand of a growing Northwest Florida population.
