Contribution Highlights
The St. Joe Community Foundation, Inc. Board of Trustees approved over 135 grant applications providing +$2.2 Million to local non-profits in 2020. Healthcare was certainly a focus this year, the Foundation Board approved significant grants to Covenant Hospice Foundation to create a Palliative Care Center in Bay County, to Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation to support Ascension Sacred Heart on the Emerald Coast’s pediatric emergency services expansion project and to The Nemours Foundation and Life Management of NWFL for charity healthcare.
In response to COVID-19, the Foundation supported several local healthcare non-profits with well over $300,000 for PPE, testing supplies and telehealth initiative support as well as emergency funds for FSU-PC and Gulf Coast State College students.
Education is always a focus for the Foundation Board and this year was no different. The Foundation Board approved approximately $900,000 in grants for special educational projects, resources and equipment along with multiple scholarships with various entities, including a multi-year grant to the FSU Foundation for the PC Promise scholarship program to provide free tuition for Bay and Walton County students with a family income of $50,000 or less.
The Foundation provided funding for immediate needs for those affected by Hurricane Sally and Walton County’s Musset Bayou Fire and also continued to support several cultural arts ideas and community outreach programs in Bay and Walton counties.
