Over the past decade, the gopher tortoise, the flatwoods salamander, the red-cockaded woodpecker and many other Northwest Florida neighbors have benefited from JOE 's voluntary efforts to ensure the region remains a place they can call home.

Working with the state of Florida, the federal government, scientists, numerous environmental organizations, JOE's team of biologists, community naturalists and conservationists, JOE works to monitor, preserve and protect a wide range of plant and animal species throughout Northwest Florida.
